The Railway Story

                          

                     George Stephen made the first locomotive in the year 1814.And in 1825 he opened the first public railway line,from stokton to Darlington.Thus story of steam locomotion went down in the history books.                                                                                                                                Steam power dominanted rail travel unit the end of world war tow.But it had disadvantages .The llocomotives were big and noisy .And clouds of steam and smoke made railway  stations very dirty plplaces in deed.                                                                                                                  

                  Rudolf Diesel's oil engine of 1893 had been of great interest to railway engineers .In no time the future of the diesel engine was assured .                                                                   

                   The great rival of the  diesel engine is electric traction .And many countries are moving in this direction .Although electric locomotives are much similer than others ,electrifying the track is a costly business .                                                                                                     All over the world many exciting experiments are going on and train travel in the future is likely to be dramatically different .                                                                                             End.
